Finale Festivities for the Children’s Summer Reading Program

“Finale Festivities!!”

This year we will be winding down our summer with a week of special programs.  Advance registration for these special programs is required. To register, stop by the Children’s Room, or call 432-1127. The event schedule will be as follows:

“Hide and Seek”

Play Hide and Seek at the Leach Library on Monday, August 6 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This fun-filled program is more than meets the eye. Throughout this exciting program, participants will hear stories of animals that blend in with their surroundings. Participants will also hear stories of hide and seek games that took a silly turn. All participants will leave with a camouflage bucket hat to help commemorate the day. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Island Breeze”

Relax and enjoy an Island Breeze at the Leach Library on Tuesday, August 7 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. During this program, we will hear stories of sun and sand, surf and sea. Participants can learn some Hawaiian words and even get to do a fun tropical dance. Each participant will leave with a watermelon beach ball. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Avian Adventure”

Join Animal Adventures for an Avian Adventure at the Leach Library on Wednesday, August 8 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. During this exciting program, participants will encounter fascinating birds and other animals, and learn about their characteristics, habitats, and other interesting facts. There will be a chance to interact with some of our animal visitors, and those participants who wish to, may even have a chance to touch some of the animals. Animal visitors may include a Sunday Conure, Cockatoo, and Eurasian eagle owl (live animals). Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.

“Yo-yos, Music and Dance”

Brett “Ooch” Outchcunis will be at the Leach Library on Thursday, August 9 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with his Yo-yos, Music and Dance program. In this fun-filled program, Brett combines his three favorite things, yo-yos, music and dance. During the first part of the program, audience members will be amazed by Brett’s awe-inspiring tricks. Thereafter, it’s time to dance! Brett will lead participants through a range of different types of dancing. From line dances and follow along, to the freeze dance, this energetic program will put smiles on everyone’s face. Registration is required and begins the Thursday prior to the program.
                                                                                                                                                           
Those who haven’t yet reached their goal are still invited to attend the special programs. They can pick up their prize bag from the Children’s Room once they have reached their goal, ending on Saturday, September 8, 2018.
