“An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe” at Leach Library

On Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m., Rob Velella will present
“An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe” at Leach Library.

Mr. Velella is an independent literary historian and playwright specializing in American literature of the 19th century.  Through public lectures, dramatic readings, scholarly publications, museum exhibitions, and tours, he has attempted to bring the writers of yesterday back to the readers of today.  His living history performances have been featured on National Public Radio and the LA Review of Books.

Join us as Mr. Velella brings Edgar Allan Poe to life.  Mr. Velella’s sympathetic portrayal of the complicated writer/editor/critic/genius is based on 15+ years of study of the author and his writings.  In addition to reading from both trademark and lesser-known works, he will explain the process of writing and the meaning behind Poe’s tales and poems.

This program is free and open to the public with seating limited to the first 90 individuals.  It will be held in the library’s lower-level meeting room.  Light refreshments will be served.
