On Thursday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m., the Leach Library will
host a musical performance of “Songs of World War II: Wartime Songs and their
Stories you didn’t Know” by Richard Kruppa.
“Ramblin’ Richard” Kruppa, as he is known in the music
community, is a member of the New England
Foundation for the Arts. He is a
retired professor who studied Gospel and American Folk music, has played in
many different bands throughout his career, and has even opened for Letterman
and the Beach Boys.
In this hour-long performance, Mr. Kruppa brings to light
fascinating and unfamiliar stories about some of our most beloved American
songs from 1939 – 1945. He sings these
fascinating songs and shares the largely unknown stories behind them while
playing on guitar, five-string banjo, or baritone ukulele.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Londonderry
Leach Library. The event is free and open to the public with seating limited to
the first 90 individuals. It will be
held in the library’s lower-level Meeting Room.
Light refreshments will be served.
