“All About Whales” at the Leach Library

On Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m., the Londonderry Leach Library will host the program “All About Whales” presented by the Seacoast Science Center.

The Seacoast Science Center is located in Odiorne Point State Park in Rye. The Center offers a wide range of exhibits and programs for all ages and has become a popular destination for families and students to learn about coastal environmental history. Visitors are able to explore the habitats around the center individually or participate in guided programs. The Center also offers outreach programming to schools and libraries to emphasize the importance of the natural sciences.

This program will feature various facts about whales, including the types of whales that are found in the waters of New England. The discussion will cover the sizes of various types of whales as well as the differences between these types, such as having teeth or baleen. In addition, the story of Tofu, a young humpback whale who lived in the Gulf of Maine, will be presented.

The event is being sponsored by the Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library. It is free and open to the public, and will be held in the library’s lower-level meeting room. Light refreshments will be served.
