Gardening Expert to Speak at Leach Library

On Thursday, March 26th at 7pm, the Londonderry Leach Library will host the program "Attracting Birds and Butterflies to Your Garden" with local gardener Michelle Mensinger. This informative talk will cover design elements of a garden that appeal to a variety of birds and butterflies.

Michelle Mensinger is a Derry gardener with years of experience sharing her knowledge and love of gardening. She travels throughout the region as a Flower Show Judge and is currently serving as a trustee for the Robert Frost Farm where she assists in the upkeep of the children's garden. She is also the Bird and Butterfly Chairman for the New Hampshire and New England Federation of Garden Clubs where she works on a variety of educational outreach projects.

In this program Ms. Messinger will discuss the types of birds and butterflies that can be attracted to a garden and what elements appeal to them, including plants and bird feeders. The presentation will include a trivia section with varieties of bird seed given as prizes. All attendees will be entered into a drawing for a handmade birch suet feeder.

The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library who will have bulbs available for purchase as part of their Spring Bulb Sale. The event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
