On Thursday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m., the Leach
Library welcomes Ms. Anne Barrett for an evening performance of “The First First Lady”.
Anne Barrett has been entertaining audiences for over
10 years, all while writing and researching her own material. Ms. Barrett’s prior experience working with
her local historical society and at the North Shore Music Theatre have helped
bring her historical presentations to life.
Ms. Barrett will portray Mrs. Martha Washington as she
takes the audience on a journey through her life, sharing her private family
joys and sorrows. As the year is 1792,
she will be relating her experiences thus far as the President's wife,
detailing everything from her social obligations to the current political
climate, as well as her concerns for her husband in the challenges he faces in
guiding the new country.
This
program is free and open to the public with seating limited to the first 90
individuals. It will be held in the
library’s lower-level meeting room. Light refreshments will be served.
