Upcoming Children's Room Programs

“Help Select This Year’s Great Stone Face Award Winner”
The New Hampshire Great Stone Face Award nominees are books selected by librarians for children grades 4-6. Beginning in February and ending on Saturday, April 7, for every book read from the list of nominated titles, participants receive one raffle ticket. All the raffle tickets will be entered into a random drawing for a chance to win a great prize. Voting on your favorite book from the list starts on Monday, April 9 at 9:00 a.m. and ends on Saturday, April 14. The raffle is open to all participants in grades 4-6. Stop by the Leach Library Children’s circulation desk to pick up a list of the nominated books and help us choose this year’s winner!

“Raptor Rapture”
Get up-close and personal with New Hampshire’s raptors when naturalists from the McLane Audubon Center present their Raptor Rapture program at the Leach Library on Monday, February 5 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. During this informative program, participants will look into an owl’s eyes, check out the talons of the Red-Tailed Hawk, and learn about the efficient hunting techniques of these birds of prey. Audience members will also learn basic biology and lifestyles of these great birds from props and mounts. Animal visitors may include a Red-Tailed Hawk and an owl (live animals). This fascinating program is open to 90 participants of all ages and advance registration is required. “Children’s Winter Session 2 Programs”
The Leach Library Children’s Room will be offering the following programs as part of Winter Session 2: Craft Time; Shake, Move and Read; and Toddler Time. Winter Session 2 will start February 7 and end March 1. Advance registration is required and begins at 9:00 a.m. Monday, January 29.

“Craft Time”
Calling all children! Children of all ages are invited to the library on Wednesdays from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. to explore their creative side. Each week, participants will discover a different fun craft to make using a variety of materials. Advance registration is required. Meeting dates are: 2/7, 2/14, 2/21 and 2/28.

“Shake, Move & Read”
This engaging program is open to participants of all ages. Shake, Move & Read allows families to explore books through movement and music. Each week, participants will energetically explore a different theme using songs, fantastic finger plays, a story and simple craft. From the opening welcome song to the final finger play, participants will be moving and grooving the afternoon away. This exhilarating and fun-filled program will be held on Wednesdays from 4:00 – 4:45 p.m. Advance registration is required. Meeting dates are: 2/7, 2/14, 2/21 and 2/28.

“Toddler Time”
This program is open to children ages 2 & 3. Children attend with their parents and enjoy a fun half-hour of thematic stories, games, songs and a simple craft. Meets on Thursdays, 9:30 - 10:00 a.m. Advance registration is required. Meeting dates are: 2/8, 2/15, 2/22 and 3/1.
