Summer Reading Program 2017: “Build a Better World”

Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins June 1. This year’s theme is “Build a Better World”.

Children
The summer is here and it’s time to build up excitement for this year’s Summer Reading Program! The library is pleased to be able to offer some great programs and activities this summer, including craft days, trivia contests and guessing games, just to name a few. There will also be special programs and performers throughout the summer.

Have an invigorating summer of fun during this summer’s reading program! All reading program participants will work on one team to try to read enough books to build a covered bridge that goes around the world, at the equator, twice with a grand total of 49,802 miles. Each book read will equal a mile of bridge built. Follow our construction worker as he builds the bridge.

The program runs from June 1 to September 9, 2017.

Young Adults
Join us this summer at the library to participate in the exciting evening meetings and the reading portion of the program. If you read more than 10 books a week, each additional book must be accompanied by a book report using the guidelines in the young adult information packet.  Students entering grades 6-12 next September may participate.  Raffle for prizes runs June 1 – August 7, with a wrap-up Pizza Party on Thursday, August 10, 2017.

Adults
Come join us for fun, excitement, and prizes! This year we will be highlighting the environment, architecture, and landscaping. Participants may register at the Reference Desk where they will receive an information sheet about the program and a Tic Tac Toe game to be completed during the summer for a chance to win a prize. This sheet can be turned in when three adjacent blocks are completed or continue to fill in more boxes for extra chances in the raffle. The first participants to register will also receive a reading incentive of a magnetic bookmark and a mystery gift. Please note that quantities of the reading incentives are limited and are available first come, first serve.

For more information, please call 432-1127 for the children’s program and 432-1132 for the young adult and adult programs.
