Leach Library to Host WMUR Meteorologist Joshua Judge

On Thursday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. the Leach Library will host the presentation, “Forecasting for Television” given by WMUR-TV Meteorologist, Joshua Judge. Mr. Judge is one of a small number of meteorologists in the United States who has earned the “Certified Broadcast Meteorologist” seal from the American Meteorological Society. He has been part of the Storm Watch 9 team for over a decade and has written two weather books, Extreme New England Weather and Weather Facts and Fun. Before joining WMUR, Mr. Judge spent several years doing weather on WHDH-TV in Boston and WGME-TV in Portland, Maine. In this presentation, Joshua Judge will discuss what it is like to forecast New Hampshire weather and how it ties in with forecasting on live television. His talk will focus on how meteorologists prepare to forecast, make the forecast, and the tools used, some of which Mr. Judge will demonstrate live for us. He will also show us some “behind-the-scenes” videos of the forecasting process at WMUR. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the library’s lower-level meeting room. Seating is limited to the first 90 people. Light refreshments will be served.
