Final Festivities at the Leach Library Children’s Room

This year we will be winding down our summer with a week of special programs. Advance registration for these special programs is required and begins on Thursday, August 8 at 9:00 a.m. To register, call 432-1127 or stop by the Children’s Room. The schedule of events includes:

Monday, August 12 - Gold Rush - Travel to Alaska from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Participants will hear stories of the vast landscapes, wondrous animals and adventurers digging for hidden treasure. Each participant will leave with a mining lantern to decorate and assemble at home.

Tuesday, August 13 - We will take a trip Down the Rabbit Hole from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. During our journey we will hear stories of animals that make their home underground. Each participant will leave with a rabbit pencil holder to decorate and assemble at home.

Wednesday, August 14 - Wildlife Encounters will be at the library from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Come and meet animals that live and dig underground. Animals may include a prairie dog, armadillo and hedgehog. (live animals).

Thursday, August 15 - Rocking Down Underground - Scott Kepnes will be at the library with his concert from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Playing guitar, harmonica and percussion, Scott presents a fun blend of participatory songs and stories celebrating the underground. Get ready to sing-along, hop-along and dance along during this hand clapping, foot stomping funky rock and roll good time.

Those who haven’t yet reached their goal are still invited to attend the special programs. They can pick up their prize bag from the Children’s Room when they have reached their goal, until closing on Saturday, September 7.
