EBooks are now available for check out on the Kindle

Leach Library is a member of the New Hampshire Downloadable Books Consortium which provides our cardholders access to audios and eBooks through the New Hampshire Downloadable Books website, http://nh.lib.overdrive.com. The Amazon Kindle eReader is now compatible with Overdrive so our patrons are able to check out eBooks to a Kindle. The Reference staff is available to answer any questions you may have on how to check out books from the website and transfer them to your Kindle.

• Visit http://nh.lib.overdrive.com
• Sign-in to website by choosing Leach Library and enter you library card number.
• Browse and check out a Kindle book.
• Click the 'Get for Kindle' button. This opens the Amazon.com website. You will be required to sign in with your Amazon.com account if you are not already logged in.
• Select a Kindle device or Kindle reading app. Click the 'Get library book' button and sync your device or app to download the book, or choose to send it to your device via USB.
• An active Wi-Fi connection is required for wireless delivery to a Kindle device. If the Kindle is not Wi-Fi capable or you do not have an active Wi-Fi connection, read Amazon's instructions for transferring files via USB. The books are not delivered via Kindle's 3G connection.
For more information, visit Amazon’s “Public Library Books for Kindle” page, or view this video from Overdrive.

For how long can e-books be checked out? Can they be renewed?

E-Books can be checked out for two weeks but there are no renewals. You can check materials in early and there are no fines. For more information you can contact the reference desk at 432-1132.
