Yesterday it was announced that Legacy of Ashes by Tim Weiner and Tree of Smoke by Denis Johnson were winners of the 2007 National Book Award for nonfiction and fiction respectively. Both books involve the CIA as Legacy of Ashes is a history of the CIA and the main characters for Tree of Smoke are CIA agents who are involved in covert action during the Vietnam War.
