On Thursday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m., Mr. George
Morrison will present “Vanished Veterans: New Hampshire’s Civil War Monuments
and Memorials” at Leach Library.
Mr. Morrison graduated from the University of New
Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1982. He served thirty years as a high school
teacher and became a life-long photographer, historian, and motorcyclist. He traveled over 18,000 miles during the
course of this project.
From Seabrook to Colebrook, Berlin to Hinsdale, New
Hampshire’s towns, individuals, and veterans’ organizations erected a
fascinating assortment of memorials to The War of the Rebellion. Historian George Morrison will share a
diverse selection of New Hampshire’s commemorations and their stories including
the Soldier’s Memorial in Londonderry’s Town Common.
This
program is free and open to the public with seating limited to the first 90
individuals. It will be held in the library’s
lower-level meeting room. Light
refreshments will be served.
